Neighbourhood Staff

We have a range of staff that work for our practice across our Neighbourhoods. In Bolton each GP practice have been allocated into neighbourhoods. As we have multiple sites we are in 3 neighbourhoods: Ladybridge and Market Surgery are in the Horwich neighbourhood, Little Lever are in the Breightmet & Little lever neighbourhood and Astley- Dale are in the Crompton & Halliwell neighbourhood. Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group have been doing some work on new ways of working and have recruited new staff across the neighbourhoods.

Across our neighbourhoods we have neighbourhood pharmacists, these are trained staff that work very closely with our clinical team and look at our prescribing, the pharmacists will also support our GPS in issuing medications that our patients may request, they will link in and communicate with the local Community Pharmacists if problems arise with prescriptions or to help one of our patients.

Mental Health

Mental health matters just as much as physical health, but there is still a stigma around talking about mental health issues.

From July, BCP will have Mental Health Practitioners offering one session per week across all the surgeries. They are trained to deal with patients needing help with depression for the first time and those with a new onset of a mental health condition, or with patients feeling suicidal. The Practitioners have spent time with the reception staff explaining what they can deal with.

If you feel depressed and haven’t been treated for that in the past, please do contact reception to book an appointment. Don’t be afraid to tell the receptionist why you want the appointment as this helps them to make the correct appointment for you and make sure you are seen as soon as possible.

We are also awaiting allocation of  Musculoskeletal Practitioners, ( MSK) again  who will be working across the neighbourhoods providing first contact appointments for those patients, with a new onset of a musculoskeletal problem such as, a patient has been doing some heavy gardening and pulled their back, these types of problems can be booked in with our MSK Practitioners once they have been
